Antonia Collado Shoe shop. Memory
In the historic centre of the city of Avila, which has been declared World Heritage, there is a slender shop premises which is marked by disordered structural wall elements and spaces which have been split up and broken.
A transparent space is projected without discontinuities, which will offer an image of unity and continuity by reducing the range of materials and mechanisms employed.
The project is generated at the intersections of two bands or axes: on the one side the vertical strip of the façade marked principally by the glassed-in balcony above the shop-premises, which reinforces and takes up again the overall composition of the building, and on the other hand a horizontal strip or axis which goes deep into the plot, in search of shapes which in principle are unconnected, of lights and textures of the interior.
The materials (wood, marble, glass) glide and unfold along the space both on horizontal and on vertical planes, extending the above-mentioned strips without discontinuity, relying on basic elements and on clear, simple and clean materiality.
